Due to suspected anti-competitive behavior of AI chips, it is reported that the European Union has launched an early investigation into Nvidia

On September 30th, according to sources familiar with the situation cited by Bloomberg, the European Union is conducting an early investigation into alleged "anticompetitive" abuse in the AI chip market, with NVIDIA taking the lead.
According to reports, the European Commission has been informally gathering opinions on the potential abuse of market dominance in the GPU sector to understand whether intervention is necessary in the future. However, in the early stages, these investigations may not lead to formal investigations or penalties.
Sources revealed that the French authorities have also launched a similar investigation and conducted interviews with market participants on NVIDIA's key role in the AI chip industry, pricing policies, and the impact of chip shortages on prices.
IT Home reported yesterday that French antitrust agencies recently conducted a surprise search on a company suspected of engaging in anti-competitive behavior in the graphics card industry. The company was later identified by The Wall Street Journal as NVIDIA.
The French competition authority clarified that such raids do not necessarily mean illegality, but are part of a thorough investigation into the substance of the case.
According to the report, although the agency did not explicitly mention Nvidia, Nvidia chose not to comment on the matter.
According to Bloomberg analysis, NVIDIA's H100 GPU has gained over 80% market share in the professional field, far ahead of its competitors Intel and AMD.
